This type of UPS is commonly used to protect loads consumming between 8,000 - 24,000Watts, which require single-phase system (1P, 1N, 1G) as the loads’ input path, while the input path of the UPS (from Electricity or Generating Set) is configured with 5-wires, consisting of R-S-T wires (3 Phase), 1 Neutral wire, and 1 Ground wire.
In Indonesia, every electrical installation of more than 6000 Watts of power, uses 3 electrical generator working in-sync to each other, and this type of UPS fits these requirements.
UPS of this size uses On-Line topology, in which the UPS will continuously supply clean power to the loads.
Suitable application of this type of UPS is for sites which have limited power capacity (such as small buildings), where installing a 1-1 Phase UPS will cause input imbalance which in turn cause the Circuit Breaker to trip off. A 3-1 Phase UPS will seamlessly balance the input.
